What is a SyncHook account?
A SyncHook account is a master synchronization point that corresponds to an email address of an owner of a SyncHook account. Connect your device with a SyncHook account to synchronize with it.
How can I create a SyncHook account or connect to an existing one?
Within the SmartAss app click the menu-button and select "Synchronize". Enter your email address to become an owner of a SyncHook account or enter another owner's email address to connect to it. The owner of a SyncHook account will be notified by email when new devices try to connect to this SyncHook account.
What kind of data is synchronized / transferred?
All your lists and all the items in the lists are synchronized. The ItemPool is not beeing synchronized. No phone data or personal data is transferred.
Can I synchronize only one (or some) of my lists?
No, at the moment synchronization works like the "all or nothing" principle. All your lists are beeing synchronized, except your ItemPool. You can not select the lists that's beeing synchronized.
Can I synchronize my device with more than one SyncHook account?
No, that is not possible at the moment. You can only synchronize with a single SyncHook account.
How many devices can be synchronized using a single SyncHook account?
There is no limit in the number of devices connecting to a SyncHook account.
How is the data transferred between a device and the synchronization server?
The communication between the SmartAss app on a device and the synchronization server uses https. That means that the transferred data is encrypted and it is very hard to be read by others.
As an owner of a SyncHook account, how can I manage access of the devices connected to my SyncHook account?
As the owner of a SyncHook account you will be notified via email when devices want to connect to your SyncHook account for the first time. This email provides links to grant / deny access for each of those devices. You can grant / deny access by clicking these links in the email.
Why are the links in the email sometimes not working?
The links are valid for 24 hours, after that they are not working any more. As a owner of a SyncHook account you can request a set of fresh valid links by clicking the "Request new links" in the email.
